Downloading - where sharing is caring!

I have recently been alerted to a commonly used way of downloading that also allows you to share the files you have downloaded and also obtain bits or pieces of files which you do not have. The peer-to-peer file sharing communications protocol I am talking about here is called BitTorrent (www.bittorrent.com). Users are able to browse the web to find a ‘torrent’ (a movie or a game, etc) of interest, download it, and open it with a BitTorrent client. It is a simple method of distributing large amounts of data but each recipient provides pieces of the data. This way it eliminates problems that might occur if relying on one distributer to provide you with what you want. So basically you are able to sign in to this sight and swop pieces of data and in return you get the pieces you want or may be missing as well. It may sound quite complicated and I am still trying to work with it myself but the best thing about it is that it is free – anything from movies, to music, films, games and software. It is easier if you have a broadband connection rather than wireless when downloading as is minimizes disruptions. So if you have a chance it is one of those things that just have to be checked out!

Hey, file-sharing is just too easy these days. With BitTorrent, Limewire, Kazaa, Ares, etc, anyone that can use the internet can access media files from all different sources. However unethical it is, its too hard for the government to fully regulate these actions as they often branch into international downloads. With a little practice, in no time you will be downloading your favorite TV episodes, movies, music, and even Windows programs such as word, excel, powerpoint, etc.

as much as we can argue about how ethical downloding is, and how its hurting whos pockets. i think if somebody's pocket was really getting hurt somebody would have done something about it by now.and music awards would not have categories for the best ringtone download , if they hated downlowding so much.

I agree with Corey, except Torrentz are more efficient than simple file-sharing applications as they permit the sharing of data before you've completed the download. As soon as you have downloaded even a small section, then people can download that little bit from you. Kazaa and Limewire only allow you to download from "Seeds" (people who have the complete file) whereas Torrentz allow the exchange between different "leeches" (people who are still in the proces of downloading the file) :) :) :)

As far as ethics go... it's hard for me to think that if i download the new 50 cent album it'll take valuable money out of his pocket-because he i currently driving around in a solid gold hummer with diamond wheels! GRRRR!!!
